Whitenair Air showers are self-contained chambers installed at entrance to clean rooms and
other controlled environment. They minimize particulate matter entering the clean space.
Personal entering the controlled environment are “scrubbed” by high velocity HEPA filter air jet
with velocity 20-30m/sec. Contaminated air is then drawn through the base within the unit
filtered and re-circulated
An air shower is a specialized enclosure used in cleanroom environments and certain sterile
facilities, particularly in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, semiconductor
manufacturing, and others requiring stringent cleanliness standards. Its primary purpose is to
decontaminate personnel or objects entering or exiting a controlled environment.
The air shower consists of a chamber with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters and
powerful blowers installed in the ceiling or walls. When an individual or an object enters the
air shower, sensors or manual controls initiate the process. The air shower emits jets of highly
filtered air in a high-velocity, controlled manner, effectively removing dust, particles, and
contaminants from the person or object.
Key features and functions of an air shower include
1. Decontamination:High-speed, filtered air removes particles and contaminants from
the surfaces of clothing, equipment, or individuals.
2. Controlled Entry/Exit:It helps maintain the cleanliness of the controlled environment
by preventing the introduction of external contaminants.
3. HEPA Filtration:The air within the air shower passes through HEPA filters, which
remove up to 99.97% of particles, ensuring a high level of cleanliness.
4. Adjustable Duration:The duration of the air shower cycle can typically be adjusted
based on the level of decontamination required.
5. Monitoring and Safety Features:Some air showers include sensors and interlocks
to ensure proper operation and safety, preventing premature exits and maintaining
the cleanliness of the environment
By using an air shower, personnel or equipment can significantly reduce the introduction of
contaminants into critical environments, helping to maintain stringent cleanliness standards
and minimize the risk of contamination in sensitive manufacturing or research settings
